VFS Global led consortium wins major citizen services contract to drive technology enabled transformation of 60 Model Sub Registrar Offices across Maharashtra
New Delhi, May 05: VFS Global, in consortium with WE Excel Software Pvt. Ltd., has secured a five-year contract from the Inspector General of Registration (IGR) and Controller of Stamps, Government of Maharashtra, to drive a technology-led transformation of property registration services across the state.
As part of the initiative, 60 state-of-the-art Model Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) will be established in a phased manner to simplify, digitize, and enhance the property registration process, making it faster, more transparent, and citizen-centric.
The consortium will be responsible for the end-to-end setup of these centres, integrating advanced digital infrastructure with trained personnel to modernize service delivery. The model offices will feature spacious, fully air-conditioned facilities, comfortable waiting areas, Wi-Fi connectivity, and robust digital systems to ensure seamless processing. Additional amenities such as refreshments and drinking water will further enhance the citizen experience.
Ravindra Binwade stated that the initiative is designed to address long-standing challenges such as overcrowding, long queues, and limited infrastructure at traditional sub-registrar offices. He emphasized that the model offices will operate under full government control while leveraging specialized agency support to improve efficiency and service quality. These centres will be optional, allowing citizens to choose between traditional offices and the new model facilities.
Jiten Vyas highlighted that the project represents a significant step toward administrative reform, leveraging technology and modern service models to enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in public services. He added that the initiative will also generate employment opportunities and contribute to skill development in the state.
