Goa Institute of Management hosts Over 40 Delhi University Principals to Discuss the Future of Higher Education

 

GOA July 03: In an initiative to discuss the changing higher education landscape and explore ways to strengthen leadership in education Institutions, Goa Institute of Management (GIM) completed a five-day Academic Leadership Programme (ALP) for principals of Delhi University colleges.

Conducted from 29th June to 3rd July 2026, the programme hosted leaders from more than 40 academic institutions including Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR), Hans Raj College, Ramjas College, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Sri Venkateswara College, and Lady Irwin College, among others.

As higher education institutions adapt to growing expectations around quality, innovation, and global competitiveness, the programme helped academic leaders in strengthening institutional planning, and building future-ready institutions.

ALP included sessions by experts from GIM, the University of Delhi, and the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), and discussed key topics shaping higher education in a fast-evolving world. These included –

·Use of Artificial Intelligence in education

·         Implementation of NEP 2020

·Institutional governance

·Digital transformation

·Change management

·Inclusive leadership

·Financial management

·Ethics, and learner-centred education

Addressing the participants, Prof. Ajit Parulekar, Director, Goa Institute of Management, said, “Our biggest responsibility is to ensure the quality of our students and faculty. Students today learn differently, and institutions must keep evolving to meet their needs.”

While encouraging the academic leaders to stay open to change while keeping educational quality at the centre of their efforts, Prof. Parulekar said, “Higher education should not only build skills but also develop responsible citizens and future leaders. We should never let existing challenges limit our vision of what is possible.”

A key highlight of the programme was open discussions between the college principals to discuss challenges they face, such as declining admissions and classroom attendance, growing role of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and administration, improving student employability, and securing funding for infrastructure.

The Academic Leadership Programme served as a platform for academic leaders to discuss and share practical solutions to strengthen institutional leadership. With this initiative GIM continues to support capacity building and contribute institutional development that are aligned with national education priorities.
