NEW DELHI, Aug 13: India’s electronics industry is witnessing strong growth, with electronics exports rising to ₹4.24 lakh crore in 2025-26, more than 11 times the level recorded in 2014-15.
The growth reflects the rapid expansion of electronics manufacturing in the country and India’s increasing role in global supply chains.
Electronics production has also increased significantly, reaching around ₹13.11 lakh crore in 2025-26, compared with ₹1.90 lakh crore in 2014-15.
Women’s participation grows
The expansion of electronics manufacturing is also creating more employment opportunities for women.
Women now account for nearly 30 per cent of the workforce in the sector, marking an important step towards greater participation of women in India's formal manufacturing economy.
The growing presence of women is particularly visible in mobile-phone manufacturing and other large-scale electronics operations.
Manufacturing creates new opportunities
The growth of the sector is generating employment across manufacturing, logistics, supply chains, engineering and related services.
It is also encouraging investment in electronics components, assembly, testing and other supporting industries.
For young workers and skilled professionals, the expanding sector is creating new career opportunities in technology and manufacturing.
India strengthens its global position
The rise in electronics exports is helping India strengthen its position as a global manufacturing destination.
Higher domestic production, stronger supply chains and increasing exports could help the country attract further investment and develop greater expertise in advanced electronics.
A promising road ahead
The next phase of growth will depend on increasing domestic value addition, developing advanced components, strengthening skills and creating more opportunities for women and young professionals.
India’s electronics industry is emerging as an important driver of manufacturing, exports and employment, while its growing workforce is helping build a stronger foundation for the country’s technology-led economic growth.
