Scooty Rides Are Redefining Women and Elder-Friendly Mobility in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Feb 03: Rapido, India’s largest and most affordable one-stop mobility platform, is witnessing rapid adoption of its Scooty category in Hyderabad. Scooty is emerging as a preferred mobility option for women and elderly riders seeking easier, more comfortable everyday travel.

Over the last six months, Scooty rides in Hyderabad have grown from 64,000 to over 11.3 lakh rides, marking nearly 18x growth in a short period. Today, the city completes an average of 50,000 Scooty rides daily, making it one of Rapido’s fastest-growing categories.

User trends indicate a clear shift in rider preferences. While women account for around 25% of bike rides on the platform, their share increases to 35% on Scooty rides, highlighting a significantly higher preference for Scooty among women riders. The step-through design, lower seat height, and ease of access make Scooty a more comfortable and confidence-building option, particularly for women and senior citizens.

Scooty rides are increasingly being used for short-distance, everyday travel needs such as neighbourhood errands, medical visits, office commutes, and metro connectivity—use cases where comfort and accessibility matter as much as affordability.

Commenting on the growth, Pavan Guntupalli, Co-Founder, Rapido, said,

“Hyderabad’s response to Scooty reflects a clear shift in urban mobility needs, beyond just speed and affordability to comfort, safety, and ease of access. We’re seeing strong adoption among women and elderly riders, driven by the step-through design and everyday convenience. Our focus is on building mobility solutions that work for a wider set of users and daily use cases, and this growth reinforces that inclusive mobility can scale meaningfully”

As Hyderabad’s commuter base becomes more diverse, Scooty is playing a key role in making app-based mobility more inclusive, accessible, and everyday-friendly, reshaping how short-distance travel is experienced across the city.
