Mumbai, July 29: Recognising that meaningful education begins with empowered educators, Rangeet, the global education social enterprise behind the Social Emotional & Ecological Knowledge curriculum, has appointed veteran educator Sonia Relia as Mentor - Teacher Empowerment. Her appointment comes as Rangeet expands the implementation of its SEEKcurriculum across government, municipal and private schools, with a continued focus on strengthening teacher capability through mentoring, coaching, training and ongoing classroom support.

With over 36 years of experience in curriculum development, teacher education, early years learning, content creation and experiential pedagogy, Sonia has dedicated her career to helping educators create joyful, child-centred learning experiences. An educator, author and teacher facilitator, she has worked extensively with schools, educators and publishers to design learning rooted in storytelling, play and hands-on exploration. She has also had a long-standing association with Oxford University Press India and is the creator of My Learning Train, a foundational learning series for early years education.
At Rangeet, Sonia will work alongside teachers across government, municipal and private schools, helping them bring the SEEK curriculum to life through practical classroom strategies, reflective teaching practices and experiential learning. Her role reflects Rangeet's continued investment in strengthening teacher capacity, recognising that lasting change in education begins with confident, supported and inspired educators.
Beyond her work with teachers in the classroom, Sonia will also work internally with Rangeet's coaching team, mentoring and training the coaches who support Rangeet teachers on the ground. By strengthening this layer of the organisation, she aims to build a world-class, high-quality support system, ensuring that every coach is equipped to guide teachers with the same depth of expertise, empathy and rigour that Sonia brings to her own practice.
Commenting on the appointment, Simran Mulchandani, Co-founder & CEO, Rangeet, said:
"From the moment I met Sonia Relia in 2023—music stick in hand, arms full of magical colourful books and bags—I knew Rangeet had to collaborate with her. A life full of experience, a deep understanding of education, and above all a real love for the teaching profession. Between her authored books, projects and thought leadership, Sonia is one of the most original voices in Indian education today. As our Teacher Mentor, she'll shape how SEEK™ comes alive for teachers in the classroom across the world. We can't wait for the magic she weaves."
Speaking about joining Rangeet, Sonia said:
“What drew me to Rangeet was the faith of the founders in the cause. Simran's high energy, Karishma's quiet strength, Anir and Renisha's crystal-clear thought process, and the way they introduced me to the design and flexibility of the "SEEK" curriculum, their young dynamic teams and their commitment to wellbeing, care for people and the planet, with thoughtful use of technology for meaningful impact. This deeply resonates with my own journey and I believe the universe aligns us not just to work, but to a cause! Looking forward to seeking and reaching together”
