Bengaluru, Aug 10: As India celebrates another year of independence, Playo, India's largest community sports platform, has launched 'Khelo India. Playo India.', a nationwide digital campaign built around a simple message: Get Free. Get Playing.

The campaign stems from a powerful insight. While India is home to one of the world's largest communities of sports fans, millions have quietly drifted away from playing sports themselves. Between work, long commutes, increasing screen time and everyday responsibilities, many adults have traded the playground for the sidelines.
Launched ahead of Independence Day, the campaign aims to inspire Indians, particularly working professionals, to reconnect with sport by celebrating the freedom to play. Through a series of authentic stories, the campaign features professionals from diverse walks of life, including technology, healthcare, education, finance, law and entrepreneurship, who share why they stopped playing, what kept them away, and why they chose to return to sport. The campaign culminates in a hero film carrying the message, "Let's Turn A Billion Fans Into A Billion Players."
Launched ahead of Independence Day, the campaign encourages Indians, particularly working professionals, to find their own freedom from the routines that have gradually taken them away from sport. The campaign's hero film brings this idea to life through a powerful visual narrative that follows the everyday pressures of work, commutes, screens and responsibilities, before reminding viewers of something they may have left behind: the freedom to simply play. Through the film and a series of authentic stories featuring professionals from technology, healthcare, education, finance, law and entrepreneurship, Playo explores why people stopped playing, what kept them away, and what it means to return to sport. The campaign culminates in the message, "Let's Turn A Billion Fans Into A Billion Players."
Commenting on the campaign, Gauravjeet Singh, Founder & CEO, Playo, said:
"India doesn't have a shortage of sports fans. It has an opportunity to create more players. As children, most of us played every day. Somewhere between growing up and building careers, we stopped. Through 'Khelo India. Playo India.', we want to remind people that playing isn't just about fitness. It's about friendships, community, happiness and creating time for ourselves again. If we can inspire even a fraction of India's sports fans to step back onto the court or field, it can transform how the country experiences sport."
This isn't a campaign asking India to fall in love with sport, it's asking India to fall back in love with playing it. And the movement is already underway: over 5 million users across 150+ cities and five countries turn to Playo every month, playing nearly 2 million sessions between them, proof that the freedom to play is something people are actively choosing to reclaim, one match at a time.
As conversations around physical wellbeing, mental health and digital fatigue continue to gain prominence, Playo believes recreational sports can play a meaningful role in helping people reconnect with both themselves and those around them.
