Bengaluru, Aug 26: For more than 200 jawans of the Parachute Regiment in Bengaluru, Raksha Bandhan this year came with a special celebration as members of Bangalore North Ladies Circle 14, along with Bangalore North Round Table 25, visited the regiment to tie rakhis and honour the soldiers who protect the nation.
The initiative brought the spirit of Raksha Bandhan beyond traditional family ties, with the members acknowledging the jawans as brothers who stand guard for millions of families across the country.
The jawans warmly welcomed the members, who tied rakhis and presented them with sweets and snacks. What began as a Raksha Bandhan ceremony soon turned into an informal celebration, with the members and jawans spending time together, singing songs and playing antakshari.
Pooja Tayal, Chairperson, Bangalore North Ladies Circle 14, said,
“Raksha Bandhan is about the bond of love, trust and protection between a brother and sister. Our soldiers live that promise every single day, protecting people they may never meet or know. Through this celebration, we simply wanted them to know that they have sisters who remember them, are grateful to them and proudly stand with them. The warmth with which the jawans welcomed us made the occasion deeply special for all of us.”
The Commanding Officer of the Parachute Regiment expressed his gratitude for the gesture and appreciated the members for spending time with the jawans on the occasion.
Now in its seventh year, the initiative was spearheaded by Cr Shruti Kiran, Mentor, BNLC 14, and has become an annual tradition for the Circle.
The celebration concluded with refreshments hosted by the regiment and the presentation of a memento to Ladies Circle India.
