12th september 2025 india; As Lokah continues its successful run across India and overseas, director Dominic Arun has opened up about the collaboration that brought the country’s first female superhero film to life. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the project has not only broken barriers with its woman-led narrative but also scaled new heights in terms of vision and executionz

Without DQ and Wayfarer, there is no Lokah,” said Dominic. “He was just as passionate as us about making this film the way it is today. Honestly, I was initially worried about the budget — because it’s a woman-led film and, by industry standards anywhere, we were on the higher side. But DQ immediately saw the necessity of that budget. He pushed to scale up wherever the story demanded it.”

Arun recalled how Dulquer’s conviction transformed the opening war sequence. “In my first draft, it was designed to be only a close shot of Chandra, with war conveyed through sound design. But DQ insisted that we show the audience at least a glimpse of that war, so that they feel the scale of the world we are building. That kind of vision and conviction was invaluable.”

With audiences and critics responding strongly, Arun adds, “Now, seeing the response and the collections coming in, I feel genuinely happy — because I think he truly deserves it.”
