“Let’s-A-Go!”: Jemimah Rodrigues Leads India’s First-Ever Super Mario Mumbai Parade

Leading the festivities as the face of the event was celebrated cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, whose warmth and star power set the tone for the day. She brought her signature energy to a memorable finale at the ground. Speaking at the event, Jemimah shared,

“Being part of Mario Day was honestly so nostalgic for me. Growing up with my brothers, it was always cricket in the ground or Mario on the TV. So being here today, seeing that same energy with so many fans, just felt really special. It’s crazy how something you grew up with still brings people together like this.”

The Mario-themed event in Mumbai transformed Azad Maidan into a lively, immersive experience, complete with a red carpet and a host of fun, interactive activities. Fans of the film, along with influencers and kids, gathered in large numbers, many dressed in signature Mario red and blue, bringing the world of the movie to life.

Adding another layer of excitement to the occasion, the acclaimed Hindi voice-over artists from the film were also in attendance – Shanoor Mirza (Mario) and Ankur Javeri (Luigi). These were the voices that brought these iconic characters to life for audiences across India, and their presence at the parade offered fans a rare and truly special opportunity to meet the people behind the magic.

Speaking about being part of the celebration, Mirza shared,

“Mario is a character that has connected generations across the world, and bringing him to life in Hindi has been an incredibly special journey for me. Seeing that same love translate so vividly on the streets of Mumbai today was surreal. The energy, the nostalgia, the fans, it truly felt like Mario had come to life in India.”

Talking about the event, Vice President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery, Denzil Dias, expressed his excitement about bringing the world of Mario to life in Mumbai and said,

“There is a particular kind of joy that belongs to everyone at once, the kind you feel in a cricket ground when the whole country holds its breath together, or in a cinema when a family of strangers laughs at exactly the same moment. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie carries that feeling, and we wanted the celebration of its arrival in India to carry it too. Jemimah understands this instinctively. She does not just play cricket, she makes people feel something together. That is what she brings every time she walks onto a field. We wanted that feeling on the streets of her city, and today, that is exactly what we got..”

Set against a vibrant Super Mario Galaxy-inspired backdrop, the energy peaked as Jemimah took the stage, engaging the crowd with infectious enthusiasm. In a standout moment, she made a dramatic entry emerging from a mystery box cube, an exciting reveal that delighted fans. Adding to the playful experience, cricket balls hidden inside Yoshi-themed eggs were unveiled and distributed to young cricketers, influencers, and media, leaving the crowd with a memorable and joy-filled experience.
