WorkIndia Report Why Businesses Are Ditching Field Sales

National, 26th March 2025 – India’s sales job market is undergoing a dynamic transformation, with traditional field sales roles on the decline and business development and Tele-calling emerging as dominant forces. WorkIndia’s latest data insights highlight a sharp shift in hiring trends, as companies increasingly adopt remote sales strategies to drive efficiency and scale. This evolution is also reshaping workforce dynamics, creating new opportunities, and accelerating gender diversity within the sector.

As per WorkIndia’s report, the sales industry is signalling strong industry expansion with total sales job postings surging by 17% from 2023 to 2024. However, the real story lies in the changing composition of these roles. Telecalling and business development have emerged as the dominant forces, reshaping hiring priorities and redefining the future of sales.

Telecalling is leading the sales boom as it recorded the highest number of job postings in 2023, and the momentum continues into 2024, with a 22% year-on-year increase in job postings. Meanwhile, business development roles have witnessed an unprecedented 80% surge, reflecting a major shift in how companies approach sales. In contrast, traditional field sales are losing ground, with job postings declining by 4% overall, except in tier 3 and 4 cities where demand remains steady. UST Upgrades Beeramguda School to Boost Education and Community
