NURA Launches ‘NURA Express’ Mobile Health Screening in Kozhikode

Calicut/ Kozhikode, March 26 2025:– NURA, an advanced diagnostic venture between Fujifilm Healthcare and Dr Kutty’s Healthcare, has announced the launch of its mobile health screening facility, ‘NURA Express’, in Kozhikode, Kerala. This marks a significant expansion of NURA’s health screening service business in Kerala for the first time.

NURA’s global partner Fujifilm has been expanding the ‘NURA’ health screening centres, primarily in urban areas across several countries, to build an environment where more people can access high-quality health screening services. The newly-introduced NURA Express provides corporate health screenings in collaboration with local companies. The mobile unit will travel to the designated locations, offering cancer screenings and testing of lifestyle-related diseases through on-site CT scans for employees working in an office or factory or living in a particular residential area. The images captured in the NURA Express will then be remotely interpreted by the physicians stationed at the ‘NURA Global Innovation Centre’ in Kozhikode. The captured images and analyzed test results will be provided to people through a dedicated smartphone app.

In the future, NURA/ Fujifilm aims to partner with local self-governments to establish a system through which the NURA Express can provide municipal health screenings to residents in remote areas. This initiative will contribute significantly to the early detection of cancer and lifestyle diseases for a large number of people.

Commenting on the development, Dr Bilal Thangal T M, Medical Lead, NURA, said, “Cancer and lifestyle diseases, such as ischemic heart disease, remain among the leading causes of death worldwide. Health screenings play a crucial role not only in the early detection of these conditions—enabling timely intervention through treatment and health guidance—but also in disease prevention by fostering a deeper understanding of one’s health. However, in many emerging countries, access to health screening services remains limited, and the culture of preventive health checks is yet to be widely adopted. At NURA, in collaboration with Fujifilm, we are committed to expanding the reach of high-quality health screenings. Leveraging Fujifilm’s advanced medical imaging technology and AI-driven medical IT systems, we aim to deliver accurate and efficient screenings. By increasing accessibility to these services, we strive to enhance early detection, improve health outcomes, and contribute meaningfully to global healthcare advancement.”

Indian Student Wins Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship at Rosatom University

Moscow, 26th March 2025 – Hemangi Shrivastava, an Indian student pursuing her Master’s degree in Electronics and Nano electronics at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), has been awarded the prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme (MSCFP) for women in nuclear science. MPEI is one of the flagship institutions under Rosatom’s core and partner university network.

Originally from India, Hemangi chose to specialize in illumination engineering and sources of light, an area she describes as the “perfect blend of science and art.” It’s not directly related to nuclear science but is highly affected by nuclear energy. The cheaper and easier the access is to electricity in a country, the more illuminated its streets are”, Hemangi noted.

Speaking about her main motivation for applying to the MSCF program, Hemangi mentioned that in 2023, she attended the World Youth Festival in Sirius, Russia, organized by Rosatom, where “a very inspiring female Turkish professor explained how nuclear energy is in everything, a part of everything, even in light”. “I am grateful to Rosatom, to the IAEA and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship Program for this opportunity”, she added.

The MSCFP Programme, supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), was launched in 2020 to encourage more women to enter and thrive in the nuclear sector. The Programme supports talented students pursuing nuclear-related studies at the Master’s level year; one hundred and more young women scientists from all over the world become its fellows. Since the programme is launched, 560 students from 121 countries have been selected from over 2,200 applications.

Rosatom has been a key partner of the IAEA’s Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme, supporting around 40 female students from 17 countries over the past four years. This academic year, 12 students from their flagship universities across 10 countries including Armenia, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe received the scholarship, which covers tuition, internships, a monthly stipend, and additional financial support from Rosatom.

“The concept of human centricity is very important for Rosatom, which assumes that the greatest value is people. Within the framework of this concept, we pay great attention to human resources development for our partner countries, including girls from these countries who are already studying at Rosatom partner universities and seek to link their careers with the nuclear industry. We attach great importance to the fact that our values coincide with those of the IAEA, and we can work together to ensure that there are more bright and talented women in the nuclear sector who contribute to the development of nuclear technologies and increase trust to green nuclear energy,” Vera Upirova, Senior Manager of the Project Office for Education Development and International Cooperation of Rosatom, told about the experience of implementing the Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowship Program in Russia.

The company has long aligned its strategy with the global sustainable development agenda. In 2020, it adopted a unified sectoral policy on sustainable development and joined the UN Global Compact—the largest global initiative for corporate social responsibility. Today, Rosatom is the largest producer of low-carbon electricity in Russia, generating approximately 20% of the nation’s power.

Mr. Vikram Handa and Mrs. Tarini Jindal Handa inaugurated this new Mother & Child Care unit which features a 10-bed maternity ward equipped with a dedicated labour operating theatre (OT), coupled with a 6-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a 10-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), with potential to expand this into a 30 beds facility. Fighting Cancer with a Strong Immune System

By: Dr Raghav Kesri, Senior Consultant and Head Medical Oncology, Yatharth Hospital, Greater Noida

For decades, cancer treatment meant battling the disease head-on with surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation. But a new frontier is changing that narrative. Immunotherapy, a rapidly evolving approach, which doesn’t attack cancer directly; instead, it empowers the body’s immune system to do what it was designed for, detect and destroy threats. For many patients, especially those with cancers that resist traditional therapies, this shift offers new hope: longer survival, fewer side effects, and in some cases, complete remission.
How Immunotherapy Works

Immunotherapy enhances the body’s natural defense mechanisms to fight cancer by making immune cells more effective at identifying and attacking tumor cells. This approach includes checkpoint inhibitors, which block proteins that prevent immune cells from attacking tumors, thereby allowing the immune system to target cancer more aggressively. Another significant advancement is CAR-T cell therapy, where a patient’s T cells are genetically modified in a laboratory to recognize and destroy cancer cells before being reinfused into the patient’s body. This highly personalized treatment has shown exceptional success in blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.

These therapies have shown remarkable efficacy in treating cancers such as melanoma, lung cancer, and certain blood cancers. Research is also exploring the potential of combining immunotherapy with other treatments, such as chemotherapy and targeted therapy, to enhance effectiveness.

Immunotherapy in India
India has witnessed a sharp rise in cancer cases, with estimates suggesting over 1.5 million new cases annually. The most commonly diagnosed cancers include breast, lung, cervical, and gastrointestinal cancers.
Studies have shown that immunotherapy significantly improves survival rates and, in some cases, leads to complete remission. However, while immunotherapy offers hope, its accessibility remains a challenge due to high costs and the need for specialized medical infrastructure.

To address these challenges, government initiatives and research collaborations are underway to develop cost-effective immunotherapies. Trials are conducted to assess the effectiveness of lower-cost alternatives. Additionally, pharmaceutical companies are working on biosimilar versions of existing immunotherapy drugs to reduce costs and increase availability.

The Future of Cancer Treatment
With ongoing research and technological advancements, the future of immunotherapy looks promising. Scientists are working on refining these treatments to enhance their effectiveness while minimizing side effects. The integration of artificial intelligence and genetic testing is paving the way for more personalized cancer treatments, ensuring that patients receive therapies tailored to their specific tumor profiles.

For cancer patients and their families, consulting an oncologist to explore immunotherapy as part of a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan can provide valuable insights into emerging options. While financial and infrastructural challenges remain, the growing adoption of immunotherapy represents a significant step toward more effective, targeted, and potentially curative cancer care.

WorkIndia Report Why Businesses Are Ditching Field Sales

National, 26th March 2025 – India’s sales job market is undergoing a dynamic transformation, with traditional field sales roles on the decline and business development and Tele-calling emerging as dominant forces. WorkIndia’s latest data insights highlight a sharp shift in hiring trends, as companies increasingly adopt remote sales strategies to drive efficiency and scale. This evolution is also reshaping workforce dynamics, creating new opportunities, and accelerating gender diversity within the sector.

As per WorkIndia’s report, the sales industry is signalling strong industry expansion with total sales job postings surging by 17% from 2023 to 2024. However, the real story lies in the changing composition of these roles. Telecalling and business development have emerged as the dominant forces, reshaping hiring priorities and redefining the future of sales.

Telecalling is leading the sales boom as it recorded the highest number of job postings in 2023, and the momentum continues into 2024, with a 22% year-on-year increase in job postings. Meanwhile, business development roles have witnessed an unprecedented 80% surge, reflecting a major shift in how companies approach sales. In contrast, traditional field sales are losing ground, with job postings declining by 4% overall, except in tier 3 and 4 cities where demand remains steady. Among major metro cities, Bengaluru and Mumbai are leading the hiring boom, with 33% and 26% increases in sales job postings, respectively, indicating a strong demand for skilled sales professionals in these urban hubs.

The rise of remote sales models is not just changing how companies sell; it’s reshaping who is selling. While male hiring has grown across all sales roles, female hiring is declining, except in telecalling and business development, where female job postings have surged by 80% and 8%, respectively. This signals a clear shift towards greater inclusion and opportunities for women in the evolving sales landscape.

In an industry where declining pay scales have been a growing concern, telecalling is standing out as an exception. The average maximum salary in telecalling has risen by 7%, indicating strong demand and growing recognition of the role’s importance in the new sales ecosystem. As sales move from the streets to the screens, WorkIndia’s latest insights highlight a fundamental realignment of hiring trends, workforce diversity, and salary structures, ushering in a new era for India’s sales industry.

Mr. Nilesh Dungarwal, CEO and co-founder of WorkIndia, commented, “The transformation of sales from field-based roles to telecalling and business development is not just a shift in strategy; it’s a seismic change in the workforce dynamic. This evolution presents a significant opportunity for female professionals to thrive in sales, breaking traditional barriers and driving inclusivity. As companies increasingly embrace remote sales models, we anticipate exponential growth in these segments, fostering a more diverse and empowered workforce that will redefine the future of sales in India.”

Additionally, Telecalling job postings for WFH roles increased slightly by 1.56%, whereas WFO postings surged by 23%. This data underscores the declining dependence on field sales and the rise of remote and telephonic sales models. Companies are increasingly leveraging digital tools and telecalling to drive revenue, reducing the need for on-ground sales operations.
