GARP Enables Remote Access to SCR and RAI Exams
India, 5th May 2025 — The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), a global leader in risk education, has announced the launch of remote online proctoring for its Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) and Risk and AI (RAI) certificate programs globally. This initiative is designed to significantly expand access to these globally recognized programs, especially for professionals in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities by enabling candidates to take the exams from the comfort of their homes. The first set of remotely proctored exams will be administered in October 2025.
The remote testing option is secured through a secure remote proctoring system, ensuring a consistent and fair exam experience for all candidates. It will allow Indian candidates the flexibility to schedule and take their SCR and RAI exams from a location of their choice, following India Standard Time (IST). Registered candidates will receive all necessary instructions and access details prior to their exam via email.
The initiative comes at a time when interest in GARP’s globally recognized risk education programs is rising sharply, driven by growing awareness of the need to manage risks related to climate change and emerging technologies. In India, GARP has collaborated with educational institutions including XLRI-Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, Christ University, Bangalore and Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. It aims to expand to cities such as Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Visakhapatnam, Agra, Kanpur, Mysuru, Mangalore, and Udupi.
These ongoing partnerships allow GARP to share its global expertise and contribute to India’s educational and professional upskilling goals. Between 2021 and 2024, enrolment for the SCR program in India grew at an impressive annual rate of 59.6%, reflecting the rising demand for sustainability knowledge. Since the launch of the RAI program in August 2024, India has rapidly become GARP’s second-largest market for candidate registrations globally. Participation has been particularly strong in metro cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, and Chennai—key hubs for careers in sustainability and AI. The introduction of remote proctoring is set to remove logistical and cost barriers, providing professionals with easier access to these future-focused certifications from anywhere across the country.
“India is a major global economy, and it is growing. As the nation progresses toward its $5 trillion economic goal, the capacity to manage sustainability and AI-driven risks becomes paramount,” said Richard Apostolik, President and CEO of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). “By introducing remote proctoring, we are eliminating geographical and logistical barriers to certification, making these critical programs more accessible to professionals in India, allowing them to objectively demonstrate to their global peers that their professional knowledge is on par with anyone in the world.”
The RAI certificate equips candidates with a robust understanding of AI evolution, core AI tools and techniques and their application in real world use cases, AI risks, including algorithmic bias, explainability, transparency, reputational risk, and data and model governance frameworks—skills that are especially vital as India’s AI sector is projected to generate over 2.3 million jobs by 2027, while the available talent pool may only reach 1.2 million, highlighting a knowledge gap and urgent need for upskilling .
Similarly, the SCR certificate—recognized globally as a unique climate risk credential—offers in-depth knowledge of green and sustainable finance markets and instruments, climate science, global policy and governance initiatives, climate models and scenario analysis, transition planning and carbon reporting, and nature risk assessment. With over 80% of India’s population vulnerable to climate-induced disasters and forecasts suggesting climate change could shrink India’s GDP by 25% by 2070 , equipping professionals with these critical skills is more important than ever.

MUMBAI, India–May 5th, 2025: Amazon MX Player – Amazon’s free video streaming service has dialled up the hip hop fever in their latest episodes. Headed by judges Remo D’Souza and Malaika Arora, the celebration was further livened with the arrival of special guests who each have some major credits to their name in the Hip Hop domain: Bhavesh aka B. Cube, the first Indian internationally acclaimed beatboxer, was unveiled in a high-energy performance; Lash Curry, the energetic MTC Hustle Season 4 winner, introduced his signature style; and B-Girl aka Bar-B, India‘s first female face of breaking, electrified the stage. In an enthralling display of solidarity, all the guests, judges, and contestants joined forces on stage, lending a fun atmosphere to the grand arrival of Grammy-nominated international artist and BMI Pop Award winner, Raja Kumari.
This week, Realme Hip Hop India Season 2 took things up a notch as Remo D’Souza announced a first-of-its-kind celebration—a fusion of Desi and International forms of Hip Hop, bringing together all core elements of Hip Hop: Rap, Beatboxing, DJing, Dance, and Emceeing on one stage. The format shifted to intense battles with no scores—just winners and losers—decided by both judges and contestant votes. Raja Kumari added a powerful rap segment during the opening battle between Rules Breakerz and Lil Pool, with Lil Pool taking the win. Lash Curry joined the stage, and Adnaan bid an emotional farewell due to injury.
Additionally, messages from icons like Sunidhi Chauhan, Dino James, Shah Rule, and Badshah acknowledged the movement being created by the contestants. Subhankar defeated Ranjeet in a DJ-themed face-off and received a special message from krump legends including one of the founding creators of krump dance style – Big Mijo himself. The stage went wild in a celebratory frenzy as Pikachu danced with the contestants! Lamonlang flung down the gauntlet, inviting Aman and Kunal to an intense battle. Rahul Bhagat staged a dramatic comeback, partnering with fan favorite Hitesh for a show-stopping act. Bar B and Rules Breakerz turned up the heat, and Ghazal Alagh stopped by for an impromptu dose of inspiration. Ultimately, Norbu won, beating out the other winners of battles to win a highly prized advantage for next week.
Reflecting on her journey as a rapper, the international music sensation Raja Kumari said, “Hip Hop has always been a place where I felt accepted, a community. Growing up in America, there weren’t many Indians on TV, in Music and then when I heard Timbaland for the first time, he was sampling Indian music, and I felt like, you know what, I belong there; I can be a part of that, and I can keep who I am. So it’s been a long journey, but I always know I will make it in India, and if people knew me in India, then they would know me everywhere in the world. So that was really important to me, and Mumbai has been that city that has given us all that hope. I represent all the way from LA to Bombay; I represent from the East to the West, and I hope this music reaches all over the world. From India to the world!”
With emotions running high and the competition more intense than ever, the battle for supremacy has truly begun. ECMO Services at Manipal Hospital Vijayawada
Vijayawada, 3rd May, 2025: In critical health emergencies, when ventilators and medications fall short, advanced interventions like ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) become vital. Now, Manipal Hospital Vijayawada has introduced ECMO services, offering a powerful life-saving option and strengthening access to world-class critical care in the region.
What is ECMO?
ECMO is an advanced artificial heart-lung machine that temporarily takes over the function of the heart and lungs, allowing these organs to rest and heal. It is used for patients suffering from severe lung or heart failure, when conventional treatments no longer suffice.
Highlighting its importance, Dr. Srinivas Rao T, Consultant – ICU and Critical Care, said, “ECMO has proven to be a life-saving intervention for patients suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), severe pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and in critical cases following cardiac surgery. Looking ahead, ECMO is expected to play a crucial role in normothermic regional perfusion — a technique used to preserve organs prior to harvesting for organ transplantation. In this evolving field, Hybrid ECMO is emerging as a promising innovation, combining the benefits of various ECMO modalities to optimize organ preservation and support advanced critical care.”
How does ECMO work?
Explaining its mechanism, Dr. V Dinesh Kumar Gontla, Consultant – Critical Care, shared, “ECMO has two major parts – the oxygenator and the pump. While the oxygenator emulates the lungs’ blood-purifying functions, the pump is responsible for the heart’s pumping action. With these dual functions, the ECMO acts either as ‘A bridge to recovery’ in patients recovering from acute respiratory or cardiac failure conditions, and ‘A bridge to transplant’ in patients with advanced respiratory or cardiac failure who are undergoing lung or heart transplant.”
There are two types of ECMO:
- VV-ECMO (Veno-Venous): Supports only the lungs, ideal for conditions like ARDS, severe pneumonia, or COVID-19 complications.
- VA-ECMO (Veno-Arterial): Supports both the heart and lungs, used in cardiac arrest, severe heart attacks, or major heart failures.
Precision and Expertise Required
While ECMO may sound simple, its execution is highly complex. Dr. Srinivas Rao emphasized the need for a skilled, multidisciplinary team comprising cardiac surgeons, intensivists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, perfusionists, and specially trained ICU nurses and technicians.
Manipal Hospital Vijayawada, with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and specialized team, is committed to providing this advanced critical care service, giving critically ill patients a stronger chance at survival and recovery.

Tom Cruise’s secret to death defying stunts
In his eighth and possibly final outing as Ethan Hunt, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Tom Cruise takes action to new heights — quite literally. In one of the film’s most daring stunts, Cruise is seen hanging from and crawling along the wings of a 1940s-era biplane zooming above South Africa’s Drakensberg mountains.
“I remember seeing old footage of wing-walking,” says Cruise of a stunt he’s envisioned trying since he was a kid. “Those aircraft were only traveling at, I don’t know, 40, 50 miles an hour. This aircraft is up to over 120 miles an hour. Going out there, I was realizing that it takes your breath away.”
But how does the actor actually fuel up for stunts of this intensity? With breakfast, he says — and not just any breakfast.
“I actually eat a massive breakfast,” reveals Cruise. “The amount of energy it takes — I train so hard for that wing-walking. I’ll eat, like, sausage and almost a dozen eggs and bacon and toast and coffee and fluids. Oh, I’m eating! Picture: It’s cold up there. We’re at high altitude. My body is burning a lot.”
Even after decades of redefining action cinema, Cruise’s passion remains sky-high fueled by intensity, gratitude and apparently, a powerhouse breakfast!

May 2025 Smartphone Launches: OnePlus to Samsung
New Delhi, May 2, 2025: Upcoming Smartphone Launches in May 2025: We are set for an exciting month with popular brands like OnePlus, Samsung, POCO and TECNO among others bringing their new smartphones to the market. OnePlus has already confirmed its launch plans for a new compact flagship which is likely to follow in the footsteps of the OnePlus 13T but Samsung is also vying for a coveted spot in the premium table with the iPhone 17 Air rival the Galaxy S25 Edge.
With an enticing lineup on the horizon, here’s a look at the big phone launches expected over the next 31 days in May.
Big Phone Launches In May 2025
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
Samsung has been teasing, previewing, and even keeping it under a glass box, but it is high time we see the Galaxy S25 Edge get an official launch. Most reports said that will happen in April, but the company was seemingly forced to change those plans, which means, we could see it launch in May. Rumours even say the Galaxy S25 Edge launch could be on May 13 which is still a few weeks away but no official word from Samsung on this yet.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is rumoured to sport a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. But the biggest highlight of the device is its ultra-slim and lightweight design, measuring under 162 grams and a mere 5.84 mm in thickness.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Edge is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. However, the slim design of the Galaxy S25 Edge could become a problem, as the device will reportedly house a 3,900 mAh battery with 25W charging support to maintain its slender profile.
OnePlus 13s
The OnePlus 13s is officially confirmed to launch in India, but the timeline is not very clear as of today, but we do expect major updates from the brand, with a May 2025 launch not being completely ruled out.
While OnePlus hasn’t said it directly, chances are that the OnePlus 13T will be rebranded as 13s in India. OnePlus 13s will become the third device in the OnePlus 13 series which already has the 13R in the lineup.
OnePlus has confirmed the 13s will be a flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It will feature a 6.32-inch display which makes it the ideal compact device with powerful credentials. The OnePlus 13s is also going to launch in black and pink colour options. The OnePlus 13s price in India is likely to start around Rs 55,000 which puts it below the OnePlus 13 model in the series.
Realme GT 7
Realme GT 7 is now gearing up for its launch in the Indian market. Realme has officially teased the smartphone’s arrival through its social media channels, highlighting its impressive gaming capabilities.
The device is confirmed to offer up to six hours of high-frame-rate gameplay on Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). It is expected to join the Realme GT 7 Pro in the company’s latest lineup of gaming-focused smartphones in India.
The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB internal storage. It runs on Realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15.
Poco F7
Poco F7 is likely to debut globally in May and we could see the device launch along with the F7 Ultra in the Indian market as well. The new Poco F-series phone is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset with up to 16GB RAM which should make it a hard-core performance device.
It is expected to carry a 6.8-inch AMOLED display and packed with a massive 7,550mAh battery that might support 90W charging speed. The phone is likely to get IP69 rating and a dual-rear camera system.
iQOO Neo 10
iQOO launched the Neo 10R in the Indian market recently and it seems ready to bring the Neo 10 version to the country soon. iQOO Neo 10 Pro+ is going to debut in China next month, and rumours suggest the iQOO Neo 10 model for India could be the same variant. Going by the leaks, the Neo 10 could be a flagship-grade device with a large battery that supports 120W charging speed. It is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup and sport an OLED display.
TECNO POVA Curve 5G
TECNO is the latest name added to the list of exciting phone launches in May. The company has shared a teaser for its new device called the POVA Curve 5G which also shows its sleek design and metal finishing. It even has a curved display as you would expect from the name and a dual rear camera setup in a triangular module with LED notification light on the edges. We should have more details about this device in the coming days.
