Wayanad: The Global Livestock Conclave, aimed at the holistic development of the livestock and animal husbandry sector and enhancing the productivity of dairy farmers, will commence on the 20th of December at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Pookode. The conclave will be inaugurated on 21st of December by Minister J. Chinchurani. The event will be presided over by MLA T. Siddique, with university governing body members MLAs, K.M. Sachin Dev and E.K. Vijayan attending as chief guests.
The conclave is organized with the objective of fostering comprehensive growth in the livestock and animal husbandry sectors. Stalls featuring livestock, dairy farming, aquafarming, poultry, and agriculture will be set up as part of the event. There will also be live exhibitions of animals, various expos, and display stalls by government and private agencies under the Department of Animal Husbandry.

Experts from across India and abroad will lead seminars on topics including the opportunities and challenges in the livestock and dairy farming sectors, mitigating wildlife attacks in human habitats and agricultural areas, empowering entrepreneurship in dairy farming, and issues related to the marine fisheries sector.

The conclave aims to enhance the production and development of value-added products such as milk, dairy products, eggs, and meat. It also seeks to provide the necessary support to start self-employment ventures in the livestock and animal husbandry sectors, create new job opportunities, and make animal husbandry more effective through the use of modern technology, according to university officials at a press conference.

As part of the conclave, real-time consultancy services will be available for farmers to address doubts and solutions regarding livestock diseases and treatments. Entry to the conclave is from 10 AM to 7 PM. The conclave will conclude on the 29th of December.
